Style File: Dakota Johnson

Wednesday, January 10, 2018

With the seemingly unlimited access we have to celebrities on Instagram and Twitter, we not only know what there doing at every moment, but we also know what their wearing. There are so many fashion icons out there. From past to present there has always been that It-girl who seems to have style down to a science. They inspire the pieces we wear and practically define the fashion of an era. Whether it's Audrey's capris, Grace's elegance, or Jane's bangs. Today, it's models like Gigi Hadid and Kendall Jenner who dominate the high fashion game. But my personal favorite is Dakota Johnson.

Dakota style has influenced my own heavily over the past year. Her effortless cool girl style is one that just speaks to the girl of today. One who prefers loafers over heels, fresh faced makeup to full glam, and comfort over suffering for fashion. Below are a few of my favorite Dakota outfits that have inspired my closet lately.

This first outfit showcases Dakota's unique talent to make the simple jeans and T-shirt ensemble look dressed up. We all have a pair of black booties, dark wash jeans and white tee in our closet. But Dakota adding that statement Gucci belt and cool shades takes the out to another level.

Dakota does Winter in style! I love an all black look and this one has been my go to for inspiration. I recently bought a jacket similar to Dakota's and have been wearing it non-stop.

I love this look for spring. Dakota has mastered the art of the cropped jean and loafers combo. I personally haven't worn anything but cropped jeans since stalking her outfits. Dakota isn't much for color, so seeing her in this peach sweater is a fresh take on her style.

This is one of my favorite Dakota outfits. This look is great for Fall or even Spring if your not into the somewhat mandatory pastels of the season. But this outfit shows Dakota's ability to add a little whimsy in her outfits while still remaining fresh and simplistic.

My Skincare Routine

Wednesday, February 8, 2017

Skincare has been something that I have struggled with so much in my life. As much as I wish I was one of those chosen people that have been blessed with perfect skin, I must simply face the fact that I am a member of the oily faced and acne-ridden squad. But since turning twenty-one, I have really been committed to taking care of my skin. One of the things they don't tell you when you grow up is that having a set skincare routine is just as important as learning how to use a credit card. In my case it was actually more important.
I've been dealing with acne since the day I hit puberty. I am incredibly oily-skinned which means breakout city. I also have HUGE pores, which does not make the situation any better. Throughout my teen years I was in and out of the dermatologist, and trying everything from Proactive to the Neutrogena Wave (anyone else remember that?!). Nothing seemed to work, and my acne was getting progressively worse. I hated the way I looked and was so self-conscious about it. Fast forward to today and my skin is so much better. Thanks to a good dermatologist and a slew of great products. So today I thought I would share all of my favorite products (pictured above) at the moment.

PRODUCTS:

one of THE best products, I have ever used on my skin. I will swear by this stuff until the day I day! I use this to take my makeup off everyday. It is super gentle on the skin and it leaves you feeling super clean. Even though I have oily skin, and this is literally an oil that i'm slathering on my face, it doesn't clog me up or break me out. Oddly enough, the answer to oily skin is more oil.

The credit for this find goes solely to my mom, who stumbled across it at TJMaxx. It is one of the more coarser scrubs on the market, but for me I need the rough stuff. It smells fantastic and doesn't leave your skin dry or red afterward. I use this at least twice a week for soft and clean skin.

This is a relatively new find for me. I'd been hearing about micellar water ALL year long, so i had to see the hype. While i won't be replacing this with my Boscia cleanser, it is great for getting off makeup in a pinch. I love the cooling effect it has on my skin. I use this to get off any excess mascara.

When I say this product is a miracle worker, I really mean it. This is such a holy grail item for me. This has been my go-to face cleanser for the past few months and my skin has cleared up so much because of it. It's completely organic and made from natural products. Not only does this keep my blemishes at bay, it also takes away any dead skin. I swear the first day i used this, i turned at least three shades lighter.

I know this technically is not a skincare product, but it is so important to have a decent brush cleanser to keep your face acne-free. As a proud member of the Beauty Blender cult, I know how detrimental it is to use a dirty one on your face. So keeping my brushes clean, is a must for me.

It's important not to neglect the rest of your body in your routine. This scrub not only smells amazing it's super cheap. I got mine at Ulta. I have been such an advocate for body scrubs ever since I heard Victoria's Secret Angels swear by them. I try to exfoliate my body at least once a week.
